All Course Networking-related work was done. I had two hours of free time before my departure to the airport. I heard that Little India was close to St Giles Boulevard hotel where I stayed (somewhere near Kuala Lumpur Sentral). So off I went in 10 minutes taxi ride to Little India.
Well, Little India, as the name suggests, was very very Indian and also very very little. For once I didn´t feel like I was in Malaysia at all. The things I saw in shops and restaurants were Indians. The people I met were also Indians.
My first stop was in a small Indian departement store that literally sold almost everthing from cooking pot to saree. I learned how to put on saree properly from the shop keeper. I tried some Indian desserts. The seller tried to tell me the names of the dessert but I cannot recall any of them.
My favorite part of Little India was the flower market. Tens of craftmen arranged the colorful and scentful flowers into distinct arragements. People bought them for religious ceremonies...That is what I was told. My next stop was the grocery shop. I believe that we can learn and understand a certain culture through the foods people eat. I didn´t expect to find many vegetebles that I didn´t recognize in the shop. It was fun to learn about them from the shop keeper.
